About Shaun

A true Miami native and former professional tennis player, John "Shaun" Hoyes's life has always revolved around the sport. His journey began as a child in the legendary Dowling League, a local phenomenon where results were published every Monday in the Miami Herald. This early exposure to competition and recognition ignited a fire in him, driving a desire to improve and a lifelong passion for the game.

As a teenager, that drive led him to the intense, world-class training ground of The Bollettieri Tennis Academy. There, surrounded by a cohort of future champions, he learned the true meaning of discipline. It was a "boot camp" of eat, sleep, and breathe tennis, and it instilled in him the invaluable lesson of being a constant student of the game—a philosophy he carries with him to this day.

Shaun's journey came full circle when he earned a spot on the University of Miami's tennis team, following in his father's footsteps. This created a profound sense of legacy and it was here, surrounded by top-tier athletes from a variety of sports, that he developed a holistic perspective on excellence. It was also during this time that his love of history and how it’s shaped the world today, began to flourish. This planted a seed that drove him to explore art, food, and culture. After graduation, Shaun went on to travel the world playing tennis professionally. This journey, coupled with his history studies, gave him an unparalleled insight into what a truly good life looks like. His extensive travels gave him a discerning eye, allowing him to distinguish the memorable from the mediocre, and ignited a passion for curating truly exceptional experiences.
